Can I send a rifle somewhere to get a custom bolt made or would I have to buy a custom rec to get a custom bolt?

You can get a custom bolt..... do a search on the internet and see what you like..... Don't be suprised to see they ain't cheap...

Dave Kiff at Pacific Tool and Gauge makes them as well as a lot of other goodies and nice chamber reamers. Of course they're not a drop in as any bolt would be and would require removal of the rifle barrel and reheadspacing.

If spending the money to true an action as well as sleeve/eplace the bolt, you mostly likely will have the same amount of money in 'smith work as you would to just start out with a custom action.

Since the money out of pocket will be similar, think about the fact that you might want to sell it down the road. Should that occur, a custom action will bring more in resale than a trued factory receiver.

I think the Stiller actions cost about the same as a trued up Rem 700.
