Who likes their bread to be buttery and hates sweet Hawaiian bread? If we're gonna have dinner rolls then they need to be browned and buttered, not that sweet crap.

I'll make an exception at times for honey butter on a yeast roll, but not often

They're definitely not a roll replacement….

However, my wife makes a hot ham and Swiss with carmelized onions with a brown sugar mustard sauce on kings hawain rolls and it is ALWAYS a crowd favorite. We take them on the toon in the summer and they're fire!

Hawaiian isn't my first choice, but it's ok. Done right they can be used to make some good sliders.

they make a hawaiin roll that is savory and not sweet. i use those when i dont make my own rolls which is very seldom but they are good in a pinch.

I look at Hawaiian rolls as a replacement for sandwiches, not for a replacement for rolls. I love it all.
