Got my comparator in today and measured some rounds. They were all within .004 of each other. Went to a different bullet than my previous rounds and they were roughly .040 shorter than the first ones I measured. Is this correct? I know it's measuring the ogive and I was sure I seated them all just off the lands. Just wondering if each bullet measures different or if they should all be close

They were both off the lands of the same rifle?

If you set them both up to be .010" off the lands of the same rifle they should measure the same from base to ojive. If you set them up to be the same OAL then one would be longer than the other since the bullet shape is different from each other.

Ok. I think I told you wrong in my op. I was measuring a 165 sgk spitzer. My measurement on one box that was loaded was 2.262-2.265 using the comparator. I checked another box loaded with the bullet and it measured 2.250 or so. I checked oal and they were all with .008 of each other. So I think they were probably loaded from different lots. The other bullet I checked was a 165 swift scirocco. It measured around 2.224. Should this seam correct to you

Sounds about right. The comparator isn't the same diameter as your barrel's lands and the bullets are shaped differently so they will engage the comparator at different lengths since they were set up using your rifle.
