Depends on water clarity the most to me. Dirtier and more stained the water, the darker the color I use, such as black and blue, junebug, dark purples and red shad. Dark colors absorb light better and silouhette better in stained and dirty water. Don't rule out real bright colors in stained to dirty water water like firetiger and chartreuse. Clearer the water, the more nautal the color I use, which is your watermelon, green pumpkin, white, and shad based colors and/or any other lure that has a little more transparency.

Then again, I've seen guys catch fish on all kinds of things in all kinds of water conditions. Guess you just hafta be where the fish are! Lol
