2021 was another successful year for elk/deer. I am beyond blessed/lucky, as this makes the 6th year in a row that I've been able to get both elk and mulie. This area I hunt isn't know for trophy size elk, but i'm more of a meat hunter when it comes down to it.

Please with my mule deer. Not very tall, but very wide. And this buck had the blackest hair of any mule deer I've seen. Currently got it fleshed out and ready to tan.

Tons of deer this size running around on the place I hunt

This elk is the furthest I've ever shot one. 498 yards exactly. This was the toughest pack out I've done due to terrain. Took me almost 8 hrs to pack it all out. Not sure if you can tell how steep it is right here, but it was all i could do to stand and work on the elk, without sending us all tumbling down the mountain.

Fantastic! I want to be like you when I retire, except my plans are WY.

Where the elk vocal at all?

wish i was retired. all i would do is travel around the west in my rv in the spring/summer and flyfish the mountains, then hunt sept-oct :)

elk woke us up 3 nights bugling, but very quiet during the day, except a little bugling dusk/dawn. However, one day was overcast and the elk were screaming all day long ! I didn't think there would be much bugling this late in the year.

That's awesome! Congrats! We're headed west on Wednesday for 3rd season. Can't wait!

Thanks for sharing the story and photos! Clearly you are making it happen consistently. I have hunted out West five times in the Frank Church Wilderness and only fired one shot on a trophy mule deer that I somehow managed to miss. Congratulations to you and wishing all the best!
