So I had to repair/replace the transom in our 16' flatbottom. I added a new outboard last fall and should have done the upgrade then, but didn't. Fast forward the little 2x10 pressure treated board said no more. So I rebuilt/upgraded the transom, while doing so I decided I'd add a CMC PT35, to fish a little more shallow water. I bought the version that's for a "clamp on" outboard, but I guess it's not for mine. I'll post a few pics to show, but I can't drill and get a full hole if I do. It's as if the mounting plate isn't meant for my motor. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this? I raised the motor up high in the picture to show the bolt hole and how it would fall outside the thick mounting pad if I drilled it. I hope this makes sense.

I don't know about small outboards as I have not owned one smaller than a 50hp. But... it seems to me that clamp on would mean easily removed... meaning it wasn't designed for bolts. If you want one that would bolt up you would buy one with your bolt pattern. Am I crazy?

You might very well be right. This boating stuff is uncharted waters for me. I was going to stuff some bolts in the available holes for extra piece of mind. One to help keep the little motor secure and two to help with a little more security from thieves. Thinking they'd have to work a little bit to get it off. I'm thinking I might have a solution to get a few bolts in it, we'll soon see.

Mine bolted on easily for my 25 hp Merc with drilling two holes. Yours you might want to add some plate for a spacer if right on edge and then use big flat washers. Also if it ever goes to leaking you can buy o rings and fix it yourself for few dollars. They only want to sell a new pump unit and no internal repair parts. You just got to get the correct size o rings. Mine leaked after several years and is good now after putting in some new o rings.
