This dad bod will be hunting out of a climber this year for the first time in about 12 years. I was a hardcore hang and hunt guy with sticks and either a treesaddle or light hang on for several years. I'm strictly a gun hunter now so that's the main reason for the switch.

I'll be hunting out of a Treewalker. I plan on adding the gun holders and possibly the gun rest. I've added a Slumper seat and stealth strips. I need to get some better backpack strap for it as well.

I'm very pleased with it thus far and like being able to hunt facing the tree or away from the tree. It's light but bulky. Goes on the tree very easily and climbing is a breeze. I made a gun rest for it in case I don't get the one that attaches to it.

Why did you give archery up? I don't hunt as much as I'd like. Hopefully as the kids age we'll get in time together in the woods.

Family. I have 2 young kids so I gave up bow hunting at least while they are young. I save my time for hunting the most productive part of the season which is mid-November to Christmas. Gotta keep the wife happy...

Nice choice in a stand .
My Dad loves his. They're a little bulky but roomy. His only complaint is the cable rattling inside the tubing.
He took an old set of truck gun racks and attached to his front rail. It holds his gun when hunting. Also while climbing up and down the tree he straps it in with a bungee.
Eliminates a pull up rope.

Also, I ordered a set of Summit's newest backpack straps and they're pretty sweet. They have stretch to them and are universal. They got my API just fine. Def a step up from the older straps.

They were $28 shipped and I got them next day.

I added an Alice pack frame to my Goliath, I used gutted 550 cord with a Canadian jam knot to secure them together. It really makes a difference in perceived weight over the supplied shoulder straps. Worth a look anyway

I made it myself. I'll definitely check out the straps you mentioned, thanks!

Great choice in climber, I've enjoyed my Treewalker over the years. That sucker will bite a tree like no other.

I filed the teeth down a bit to keep them from damaging trees too much. You definitely don't have to worry about slipping with stand!

I had one on a stand a few years back. Definitely makes carrying a stand much easier!

great looking setup! I hope you get many a good deer form it!

Care to share with us how you made the shooting stick?

Don't mind at all. I make turkey calls so I used a hickory striker blank for the wood. I turned the section where my hand goes on the lathe. You could probably go to any wood store and get a 1.5 inch dowel.

I screwed a rubber prong in the bottom (can get at Lowe's). I took the yoke off another shooting stick. I cut a bolt to size and put it in the top for the yoke to screw on to. The rest was spray painting. Pretty simple little project.
