i just started using circle hooks for catfish below milltown dam near columbia. i caught one nice channel cat and missed alot of other bites. any suggestions will help.

Dont set the hook. When they bite let them take the slack out. Pick your rod up and when you feel the fish slowly sweep the rod to your side and reel at the same time.

circles are not made to be jerked. a smooth sweep of the rod will do the trick or just pick up the slack and start reeling.
Yea, what they said. Do NOT try and "set the hook." Just start reeling.

I like them better about the same set to miss ratio but when they are hooked I dont lose many and dont have to dig them out of their bellies either
