Cheatham WMA

Anyone been out there to hunt this year? How have the birds been? We've been mainly on private land but I'm gonna try out Cheatham tomorrow morning for a quick hunt.

Birds have been EXTREMELY QUIET!! I have been 9 times.. Seen 20+ hens.. NO boys this year..

Was out there this weekend and didn't here the first peep and walked about 10 miles. I did see all kinds of sign, but not the first gobbler seen or heard.

Been out there 6 times come home with three longbeards. two of them mine, one dads. just have to be where they are boys.

Thanks boys,good to know. We hunt the north side of the area generally. Hopefully they are gobbling' there. I'll post an update tommorow.

When you say north side, do you mean up around wiley pardue road? or up around headquarters road?

They were hot this morning! Had 3 gobbling off the roost,but couldn't get close enough to get their attention off the hens they were in. Called in one bird later in the morning but he got hung up on a creek I didn't realize was there. Called in 3 hens,one to about 10 yards. Overall a great morning,they gobbled solid until 8:30. I'll definetly be heading back soon.maybe tommorow.

@Waterfowler: Up by wiley pardue. I've hunted all over but I usually focus up there for turkeys. Seems to be less competition usually.

mine were hot too, heard 6 on roast called one in for a buddy, and he smoked him back at the truck by 7. but it seemed like they didnt do much gobblin after 7:30

Birds were on fire at sunrise today.. then they went silent.. Saw 2 jakes run though the field. and they flew into private property.. Now i'm at work
