can you buy skipjack?

A guy I know is coming to Camden for a catfish tourney and is wanting skipjack.

Nope, you can't buy or sell any kind of native fish without appropriate commercial license(s), and abiding by outlined commercial regs. If there is any means of legally selling (or buying) skipjack retail... I've never heard it.

I'm not saying that there's not some occasional "exchanges" made under the table (or on the river's edge), as the case may be.... but no, I don't think you'll find them anywhere "For Sale."

If so, local game wardens would probably like to know about it.

That's one reason TFWC recently put a "limit" on skipjack. Lots of folks were coming from faraway places and loading up on them.

I saw some in the bait shop near wheeler dam a couple of months ago.. but thats in alabama...

When fishing with skipjack...how do you prepare for the hook? My buddy hookedup filets em 1st...How do most use it?

Opinions vary but an average skipjack makes 4 baits.the head,gut pocket and 2 fillets.

really depends on the size ..I have used them cut in half and I have made 4 baits out of them.. I sometimes used bait that is a pound each.. weeds out the smaller ones...LOL
