Dec o8 NAW ,and I do remember your not high on NAW,Dr Kroll says that suppllemental feeding"can be a significant management practice."I know your feelings on this, and you have won me over.Just surprised to hear this from such a well known deer bio guy.He goes on to say,"Disease isues can be real, but as with humans, healthy deer are resistant to disease."Your thoughts? Also, back when I put out corn,I really knew ,or thought, I wasnt really helping them, because of the shear volume you would have to put out to do any good.If Im right, his statement puzzles me even more.

isn't Dr.Kroll from Texas? That could influence him greatly.

Wheter or not kroll recieves any monies from the supplimental feed industries could influance his opinions also...jmo

Exactly.

I used to greatly respect Kroll. He was a bit "radical" but the times needed that. However, of late, he has sold his soul to the Money Devil. He has said such outrageous things--things that are absolutely biologically false and he knows it--to protect some of his extreme management practices, that I have lost all respect for him.

Guess he'll be running for congress now.

It's a shame that so many have no integrity.

However, it's not necessarily the fault of the "Money Devil".
I figure folks like this have always been like this ---- the money was just the "bait" that allowed us to see what they are.

Money seems to be nothing more than a tool which allows good people to do more good; and sorry people to become yet sorrier.
Money is not the problem: The problem is greed and a lack of integrity.

i dont like him cause of his pratice in deer genetics

as fars as supplmental feed being bad why are states that allow it deer herds falling off the face of the earths due to disease

ie
texas
ky
nc
ohio

Go look at MI deer herds that are spreading disease like crazy by feeding/baiting.

The Wildlife Disease Center is finding diseases spreading through feeding in the Southeast.

I can see both sides of the issue,.. and have researched it thoroughly. As long as true supplemental feeding is being conducted in a safe manner by a someone who is aware of the potential danger to the herd by unsafe practices,.. i have no problem with it.
BUT,.. what i don't like about it is the potential risk of turning wild animals into a domestic animal. Thats not for me!!

Kroll does most of his work in Texas. Supplemental feeding is a MUST in Texas to keep densities high.

Certainly. But it isn't just his comments about supplemental feeding that bother me (in fact, that's the least of my concerns). It is some of his absolutely insane comments about CWD that have me shaking my head.
