Of the 2 you listed: A bolt, but I prefer many others over both of those. Kimber, Win 70, Ruger 77, Sako to name a few.

Which A-bolt? I havent grown to like the X-bolt yet (looks) but im sure in time i will. I own 3 700s and 2 A-bolts so im not biased. I've already decided my next rem bolt will be a model 7 cdl.

I despise the "walmart 700s" like the sps/adl for their crap finishes and overall "clunky/rattley" feel. But their lines above those are traditional rem quality. NEVER felt a bad browning tho!

Both will outshoot most owners, ;)

i agree. the old walnut blued ads were nice guns. then remington threw out a bunch of plastic, matte finished junk. the cdls are nice, however

I've only owned Remington,no problems with either one of the 2 I've owned. I've also heard good things about the both the A-bolt & X-bolt.If it was me,I'd see which one felt better to shoulder ,which bolt felt better to operate ,which safety was more user friendly and so on and so forth........

A-Bolt. Great accuracy, the tang safety is super fast and easy, and maybe th ebest feature, but seldom mentioned, is the 60 degree bolt throw. You can work the bolt with thick mittnes on and have no trouble clearing the scope bell.

I have two A-Bolts one is a composite stalker in 280 rem, and the other is a micro medallion in 7mm-08,i owned a sporting goods store for 5.5 years and have shot a lot of different rifles, and have owned over 40.For the money and the major things you want in a rifle, top tang thumb safety, ajustable trigger,60 degree bolt, drop box magazine, and free floating barrel,it's hard to beat an A-bolt.

I'd be hard-pressed to buy a Remington right now. I own a few older ones, but the newer ones do not have the same QC standards. Ever since they were bought out by Cerebrus(sp?) their quality has steadily declined. If you purchase a new one you may get a cherry or you may get a lemon. Of course, they have now gone out and purchased Marlin and done the same thing to them. Bummer!

I have 3 A-bolts and one 700. Fit, finish, construction, materials, looks, accuracy, Browning wins hands down. The X-bolt is a throwback to the BBR, which had the Weatherby short lift action. I can't wait to get my hands on one. They way the action moves in the store is just hard to overlook. Reportedly, they have excellent accuracy.
