Vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum (55#, AMO 52)
Got my bow square and stringer in today and ready to place the nock and shoot some. But, there seems to be a problem with the string that came with the bow:
Brace height should be around 8". With this string is is 4.25".
String length should be 48", this string is 49.75".

It doesn't seem reasonable that I can add enough twists to this string to get it even get it close to correct starting brace height.
Do I need a new string? Recommendations (I think a sponsor sells them?).

I agree. A new B50 string is what you need. I don't know if we have any sponsers on the site that handle those. I make my own but there are several options online. I won't name them ( site rules, no advertising non sponsor) .

Go ahead a look up the videos on YouTube to make a string jig for a Flemish twist string ( diamondback archery) . I struggled with this and finally took a chance on making my own to found out it is super easy , way cheaper and you can do custom colors. I use BCY B/55 string.

I had my local shop make me a string, picked it up today.
Shooting a recurve is WAY different than a compound. It has been a long time.
I'll have to drop back to a lighter weight and work my way up to this one. A shame, as it is a beautiful piece of workmanship. :-(
