Anybody ever bought a bow off eBay? I have been watching several bows on there lately. I'm just curious about scams or quality issues if anybody has any experience. Like yesterday someone was selling a 2012 Hoyt Carbon Element that ended up selling for $520. All other Crabon Elements on there are selling for $800 and up. So are there actually good deals or is there something up?

Thanks

ArcheryTalk is the place to buy a used bow. Go to their classifieds. Usually there are about 3-4 pages worth of them posted PER DAY. And it is a buyers market over there.

But as with anything...you gotta look at the stuff and do your research. I always look at the feedback ratings...if they have a lot of transactions and all or 99% feedback, then I feel comfortable buying from them.

If they have a 2014 Hoyt Pro Comp Elite in great shape and want $350 for it, money order only, and they have 0 feedback...that's a pretty good clue to stay away LOL.

Bows on eBay do tend to go a little higher than on ArcheryTalk...they have a bigger storefront so to speak. You can find some good deals via dealers that are listing store demos or last yr model closeouts too.

I would feel a lot more comfortable buying a used bow from a company with a transferable warranty than one without. Just a thought....

There are rarely deals on Ebay but occasionally you gets salvage companies that will list bows for parts only bc they have a broken string or something stupid and they go for $75-$125 and all they need is a string but its rare. Most of the time people on ebay bid the bow darn near to the new bow price. I have had good luck on ebay when I do hit a good deal. Main thing is make sure they have high feedback as stated above and actually know what tey are selling. If they dont know the specs of their bow and its a 2013 bowtech then chances are they r scammers. And lastly on the ebay thing watch out for the moron that keeps listing $400-$500 bows for the buy it now price between $50-100 cause he's charging $700 shipping.

I found a nice Vector Turbo. Draw length will be too short so I will be in search of some rkt cams. I was under the impression that I would only need the modules to get my 30" draw but instead I need an entire new set of cams.

I feel like I got a deal on the bow but now am kind of in a pickle as I cannot find the cams anywhere. Especially left hand ones. You guys think archery den would have them? Or does Hoyt supply them as spare parts?

Yep Hoyt does their cams in "families". They'll have a certain number for each family of cams, that will cover a specific range of draw lengths. And then they'll give a list for the module sizes per each family.

You'll need the #3 cams on your Vector Turbo to get to 30" draw with the RK3E module for 30" draw. And I have even more bad news for ya: you'll also need to get a new set of strings/cables for the new cam size. Each cam family has their own string/cable lengths.

So you probably really didn't save much at all by the time you track down a set of cams, modules, and get a string/cable set for it. I think 2012 was the last yr they made a Vector Turbo...that's the last yr they have for it in the spec charts.

This^^^^^^^^. Check archerytalk for a set of rkts and/mods if you can't find any the archery den will be able to order them I doubt he keeps any in stock. Cams should be around $100 I think.

I have bought a used bow off ebay AND bow parts off Archery Talk, being very satisfied with both.

As others have said, DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you bid. For me, that means getting in an email conversation with the owner. Then possibly even a phone call or two.

Just got off the phone with Archery Den. They can get the cams for me. Looks like I will just wait and save to get the cams, cables and strings. It will suck not being able to shoot it for a while but like others said...."do your homework". I'm just happy I can get the right cams. I will try to sell the RK1's online after it's all said and done.

thats what I was worried about when you said great deal. #1 cams and leftys always can get bows for a good deal just if ur not short or left handed is the drawback

$100 for cams?

I just bought some cams off Ebay for $28 dollars shipped.

archery Den in Franklin has to be one of the highest placest I have been too. everything I saw there was a good 20% higher than most retail shops and a good 30% to 40% higher than many online retailers.

I never said I was gonna buy them from them. I am definitely going to be shopping around for a better price before I make another decision that may cost me. What's another bow shop in the middle tn area?

Something else to consider too....going to a different size family cam will probably result in a draw weight change too. I'm not sure if it will make you lose poundage or gain poundage with the same limb deflection. But you can expect one or the other.

I personally would not buy a used bow sight unseen.

You just don't know if it's been dropped or dry fired and could blow up on you on the first shot. Then the seller is going to blame you.

I have seen way too many scams and deals go south on Archery Talk to ever contemplate buying a used bow on there.

I like the buyer protection of Ebay but like others have said the real deals are few and far between.

Archery Talk is awesome. I have bought several items and never had any issues

I bought a brand new Hoyt Spyder 30 in black off of eBay n the box for 620.00 last year. Dealer had same bow for 899.99. Guy listed it as 26" draw, but I knew u could just move the screw in the cam to get my 28" draw. Took it to dealer had everything put on that I bought from eBay to g o on it, total bow cost was 1k with a dozen Easton arrows from dealer. It's what ever deal u can find on there.

Have bought a bow, arrow rest and sights off Archery Talk. No issues what so ever.
