Hello Everyone, I am new to hunting and have a question about this coming weekend(and the rest of yr?) Since it will be muzzleloader season this sat I understand I will need some blaze orange. Do I only wear it moving to and from my stand, since I am the only one hunting on the property? Or do I need to wear it the whole time?

Thanks in advance!

And "camo" orange does not count. It must be solid orange.

BSK, is that correct? I thought it could be "camo" orange as long as the blaze orange equals the 500 square inches.

This is from the Tn Hunting Guide, which I understand is not the law but is the TWRA's source for guidance to hunters: "Blaze orange camo is legal if it contains 500 square inches
of fluorescent orange."

Per Cabelas, my camo blaze orange vest alone has 600 square inches of blaze (plus I wear a blaze orange hat or stocking cap).

hat and vest of solid orange will suffice, with camo orange you will need more than just hat and vest to reach the required 500 in of orange

That's more of what I'm referring to. With camo hunter orange, a vest and hat are usually not enough (not 500 sq. inches), but full coveralls would be.

99% of just your vests, including camo vests have 500 square inches of orange, the hat makes it 500 plus. But you have to wear the hat, because it says upper body and head.

Anyone know if orange is required on LBL during statewide muzzleloader?

I wouldn't think so since there is no muzzleloader season going on on LBL until their quota hunts, but it is worth a call to them to confirm.
Thanks. Will do. My HSS vest is reversible, so I'll throw a hat in the truck just in case.

When there's a good chance of someone being in the field or woods with a firearm, even on private property (ever hear of tresspassers?) I wear orange only during the times that I don't want to be shot.

It also gets me when people wear their orange to the woods, then sit in a camo blind. For Pete's sake, deer can't see orange worth a toot! They should make pop-up blinds with orange camo in the pattern. I'd put up some orange on the outside of the blind, so people will know there's a blind there and probably has people sitting in it.

Don't be one of those people who think they're too above the law that once they climb a tree or sit in a blind they can take all their orange off. Put it on, wear it the whole time.

That's what baffles me...why risk your life when deer can't see it anyways...

I understand and follow the law, but what safety advantage do you see in wearing orange in a blind? Would it not be safer to have orange flagging on the outside of the blind?

Bingo.

If the hat/vest is all you have, the safest thing would be to take the vest off and attach to outside of the blind. But, then, that would not be legal.

I wear camo orange all the time. A vest and hat will suffice. I even blaze my deke on both sides. When I set it up no hunter should make a mistake and try stalking him. The bucks just think it's kinky, lol.
