I've got a reproduction of the 1851 Colt Navy .44 cap and ball pistol. I shot it a few times. Now I have it in a Civil War display in my cabinet.

ditto to what trapper said. I did the same thing. I plan on getting a North american arms ..22 mag black powder though. Or an Uberti Peacemaker style cap and ball.

With the scope I shoot out to 75 yards comfortably. At the range with a good rest it shoots good 3" to 4" groups at a hundred yards. I don't shoot at deer with it that far. Not enough KNOCK DOWN power for me.

carry this lyman plains pistol i made late last summer as my dispatch gun, have shot it about 20 times can shoot a grapefruit with it at about 22 yards, have not had to use it to put a deer down yet, my 50 cal tc renegade dose that pretty well :)
buy it is still kinda cool to have just in case, i keep it in my day pack waterproofed in a big ziplock and take it out and cap it when i am on stand.

I have one too. I've got several reproductions of the 1851 Colt Navy .44 cap and ball pistol and two Colt Walkers in 44 also . I have a Ruger Old Army cap and ball pistol also and they will all shoot well.
