I have been trying to decide on a new muzzleloader and have chased one rabbit hole after the next. I finally bit the bullet and ordered an Arrowhead Rifles Savage setup today. I had a spare Savage action and chassis sitting around, so I might as well put it to work. The barrel is a Brux .45 cal, and comes with a MOA guarantee to 300 yards. I'm looking to give it a whirl when it gets here.

88gr N530 with a 300gr bullet. It's best to use a dry wool wad over the powder. Did you order a smooth sizing die ?

The best die is a Swinglock smooth form die. They are $160 on the Swinglock website. Arrowhead sells bullets. I prefer Pittman bullets as he has the best customer service in the business and is nearby in Seymour TN. You'll need a jag profiled to the bullets, a spin jag adapter and a collapsible ramrod. Make sure the wads are Eastern Maine dry wool wads.

I was looking at the Pittman, and really liked that he is close by.

Not sure about the ramrod but he stocks the spin jag adapter and a jag profiled for his bullets. He also has the wads. Be sure to buy the hard-core bullets. The lead is a little harder so they don't grenade easily. You should get 2800 to 3000fps depending on bbl length, with a 300gr bullet.

Did you buy his prefit barrel that uses a barrel nut 1.060 dia?
