Birds in my tomatoes

Ok guys any thought on what has worked for keeping the birds out. I pick almost ripe early but something is knocking green tomatoes of the vine and pecking small holes in them. I planted late so I have hundreds of green tomatoes. I would love to eat one or two. LOL

Plastic owl works well, but move it every couple of days

We have a flock of sparrows doing the same thing only they are getting the almost ripe ones!

Netting, although I prefer killing things.
