got the bike back from a guy who works mainly on Harley's. He changed the oil, plugs and cleaned out the carb. Still will not start like it should, gonna take it to the Yamaha place tomorrow I guess. Its gotta be a carb issue.

may have got it workin, googled carb adjustment and it showed me the screws so I adjusted them and she cranked up. slowed the idle down a bit now it sounds normal. still a bit sluggish while riding so i am gonna keep playing with it till i get it right

2007 Yamaha V Star 650 Cruiser, looks a little like yours DA.

bought it at the end on 07 then messed my knee up in 08 then had surgery in 09.She sat for about a year and a half, practically new!

dang it,,, went out to try and start it after it sat a while, it is turning but not firing. Gotta be a carb issue. May load it on the trailer and carry to the dealer and have em look at it.

I JUST WANT TO RIDE!!

dropped her off at the shop today. they guys is convinced its the carb, gonna pull them and soak in some acid to clean them. Gonna be there for two weeks seems like everyone is having bike troubles

It's all that dang ethanol they put in gasoline now. Messes up boats, motorcycles, ATV's etc if they sit without running for a few months. I don't remember who on here recommended it, but I've been using that blue StarTron stuff from the boating section of Walmart and haven't had any problems lately.

It's called Star-Tron and it's blue liquid in a plastic bottle. The local Harley dealership sells and recomends it too but it's cheaper in the Walmart boat stuff section.

I HATE a fuel injected bike!! Guess i am old school.. Ain't a Bike if you don't let it warm up for 20 minutes!! Besides i can work on carbs.. change jets and set tuning.. I also run Star tron in my bikes.. great stuff!! And the bike really likes it to.. seems to give a extra boost...It doesn't take much..

Outdoor Lady... Yes.. you put it in when you fill up.. I used two Ozs. first time then about a ounce each time after..Sometimes i will let it go to every other fill up and seems to work just fine that way..It made my bike run smoother and a bit cooler according to my Oil temp gauge..I don't know about other bikes but Harley has rubber gaskets in the carbs and the Ethanol is really hard on them..Startron helps to keep them from breaking down..

Up here it runs about 8 bucks a bottle at Wal-Mart.. but i don't go there at all so i order mine by the case directly from the company..it is a bit cheaper that way also...
