You guys that fish for them, what do you consider a big Redear in Tennessee? Say if you were to equate it to a 15" crappie how long would the Redear need to be.

I would say a 12" redear would be equal to a 15" crappie.

Here is a list of minimum length for the TARP.

Gotcha. Never really knew much about the TARP program. Seems a bit skewed for a few species though. Could load a John Boat with 14" crappie in a years time and likely not hit the 10" mark on Bluegill. At least in the places I have fished.

Did some rummaging through the cooler and think I may have caught a few TARP fish today.

I consider anything over a pound big.
You are right about the crappie v/s bream size requirements for sure ! Lol

I've never caught any really big Bluegill either. Caught a few close to 10" I think. Have caught a couple Redears (we call them Shellcrackers) about 12" long.

Our biggest we have ever caught was 11.25", we have only hit the 11" mark 5-6 times
