This story makes me want to throw-up. This clown decide to eat a 18lb bass, how stupid can you get? Judging from the photo, I guess you have to remember what you are dealing with.

My buddy's late grandpa had racks of 150"+ whitetail laying around his garage from years of living and hunting in Minnesota. Years ago when I asked him why he didn't have any of them mounted he said to me that they were just another deer for him and his family to eat........ He also had pictures of him and his buddies holding 10-12lb largemouths from Woods Reservoir from the 60's when they used to run Morris Ferry boat dock. They ate those too. Some people hunt and fish for the enjoyment of it and to eat their game. Not everyone is a "trophy person".

BTW Don't judge people. :)

For everyone that says anything derogatory in anyway about keeping and eating this fish, if it was me I would say to heck with ya'. Legal catch and his to with as he pleases. I for one am happy for him and if I ever catch a state record Tennessee bass (will never happen I know) I may just have to eat him.

First and foremost, if anyone else has some crap to say like tohserus did, I wouldn't suggest it.
Secondly, back in the old days, people fished to catch fish to eat them.
Guess what, some people still do.

Amazing. QFMA I suppose.

This has to rank in the top 5 most stupid remarks I've read on this site, and I've been reading things on here a long time.

Awesome awesome fish. Taken legally I don't care if he eats
his fish. Just don't understand why some folks push their ideals
on someone who did nothing wrong.

Dont have a clue why he ate that???
Reckon he might have been hungry? I got fussed at for eating a 8 1/2 pound smallmouth last summer. He fillet just as easy as the rest of the rockfish we caught and tasted just as good. The local game warden had said "that is a good smallmouth' when he walked by me as I was putting him on the stringer. I looked up and said "reckon he'll taste good" and he looked at me kinda dumbfounded and walked off. He didn't think I was serious.

I'm not dissing anyone for eating a fish, but I think it's worth explaining a different mentality. If I had caught that big largemouth or the 8 1/2 pound smallie, I would have taken pics. and measured him for a wall mount before tossing him back.

But why? Because the food value is less than $10. The catching value for me is priceless. The value for me or someone else to have the opportunity to catch a trophy like that (again) is thousands of times more than the meat value.

I wouldn't diss the angler for his choice, but I can't even come close to being able to fathom that mentality. Thank Gawd I don't value fishing for its food source above the fun of fishing. I would starve to death!
