while the block is pretty good I think it would be better bedded out to the recoil lug,,I am thinking about doing it tonight,,anybody ever mess with bedding a rifle with the bedding block made in the stock??

rifle is a Rem 700 PSS 308,,

Ive done it on Bell and Carlsons with an aluminum block. Not sure if it helped any though as I never shot it before I bedded it. I just bedded around the lug area. Not the whole action.

I don't see how it can hurt accuracy any, but I don't see how it can help either. If you make sure the recoil lug is against the bedding block and tighten it down good, it shouldn't move. I take my .243 out of the stock every time I clean it and I can't tell it makes a difference not being bedded. Mine is a HS Precision stock off a Remington 5R.

mine feels kinda loose until you really get on the torque,,and whn assembled it is free floated but if you slap the stock on the forend it will contact the barrel,,I thought I would bed it and level the action and get a better and even position of the barrel in the channel,,

I havent shot it enough to actually know how it shoots but I went ahead and ordered bedding compound when I got the Lapua brass,,plan on bedding and switching a Jewell trigger in while I got it apart and start off with new fresh brass and get a good load with the 175 SMK,,after I have the load I am gonna switch it over to Redfield Palma sights,,

I really want to bang that gong at 1,000 with the sights,,

Check out Long Rifles, Inc. and his bedding process of HS/B&C stocks. He takes a pic of the receiver and creates a 3D image in CAD which is then uploaded to the CNC machine to perform milling of the block. Supposed it has all the benefits of bedding without it ever chipping or flaking.

I have bedded 2 rifle stocks both Bell & Carlsons with aluminum bedding blocks. One a Remington 700, the other a Browning A-Bolt, the Remington 700 made a big difference in accuracy, the Abolt shot about the same. I took the Abolt to the Rockies on my first elk hunt. The rifle was dropped twice and stepped on by my horse when I fell off! Don't ask Lol! Long story short the rifle stayed dead on after all the abuse and I took my first 6x6. Trust me that wouldn't have been possible if the rifle hadn't been bedded with Acra Glass and had Talley scope rings. Just my .02

I took it apart and removed the trigger and started prepping for bedding,,it is very evident looking at the bottom of the receiver that it has been sliding back and forth on the block

I plan on doing the actual bedding tomorrow after work and switching the Jewell trigger in and see how it goes,,

I loaded the 175`s today in Lapua brass working up 10 rounds at each 1/2 grain step to book max with 4064,RL 15,Varget and AA2520 to test after the bedding sets up,,from my experience if it wont shoot one of those loads there is no hope,,we will see,,
