Folks, remember the thread a while back about "when do you cap your ML"? Remember when I commented that I will put my primer in when I leave the truck, then REMOVE IT WHEN HOISTING AND LOWERING my ML from the stand? Well, it could have possibly saved my life last eve. I hurried to my stand yesterday eve to get a few min of eve hunting in after work. The ladder stand I went to has a hoist rope that has been out there for a couple of years now, but, I had brought one to replace it on the LAST hunt I had in it. Only thing is, I left it on the seat upon top when I came out, hooked up alright, but still laying on the top seat. I remembered this only when I arrived yesterday eve, and thought, well I'll just use the old one "just one more time". Well, one more time didn't happen. I started hoisting my ML up, WO THE PRIMER IN, and about 1/3 way up, it snapped, and my ML planted firmly on the buttstock, and fell over. Who knows, if that primer had been in.....

Folks, I've heard of it happening before, actually to Spitndrum on here, and now it has happened to me. Spit didn't fare so well, as his stock shattered, if I remember correctly. But, be safe, and don't take a chance with your life over taking such a simple precaution.

Man glad you were ok.
Not to hack your post.
There is a guy here at work that was actually lower his cross bow loaded and it went off as he was lowering it.
Yes I said that right!!
"The broadhead sliced his nose and up to his forehead. He managed to make it to his truck and lay down, blood running from his face.
Luckly someone came by and rushed him to the Emergency Room!!

I change my pull ropes when they show the slightest sign of wear in any shape, form, or fashion. It would cost me way more to replace my scope than my gun.
