I've been going every year since my first showing in 2000. So this makes 24 years for me.....things are different now, I bring the family for the day instead of howling at the moon. But it was a great year. I volunteered to take over the seafood boil for a dude that never could get his act together. 20 lbs. of shrimp came out well. All in all it was a fun Friday, with some good food.

And the TAFKAP Boys annual picture on the river. One of these days, I'll post a progression photo

Thoughts on the new park and setup? We had our best spot ever, but I did notice some issues, especially load out. Also, things seemed disconnected.

As for food, we had some great grub but posted our worse finish. We're gonna make some changes next year related to the comp day cook.

I've been pretty vocal about how the MRPP is absolutely destroying the form & function of Tom Lee Park with this boondoggle monstrosity. My team lost out big time because we've been a traditional river-facing setup for over 15 years. Now, the shoulder section had 7 riverfront spots, and all the shoulder teams were relegated to this tenament alley arrangement. Booth size was significantly smaller, very cramped for access, as well as usable cooking space within the booths.

I also didn't appreciate how broken up the park was, and it was pretty complex to navigate the narrow walkways and "DO NOT ENTER" zones that took up a big portion of the park. My team may move back to ribs next year because the ribs section was significantly larger and more accessible.

We cook ribs. Load in was easy but load out was a big mess. The part was broken up which IMO affected music fest more than the BBQ. Hoping they figure out a way to make some improvements and remove all the "do not enter" zones.
