I've been so frustrated/disgusted since Sunday I could not post about it. Saturday was fun with the snow and all - plus seeing deer. However, Sunday morning I put an arrow in the bet buck I have had a shot at, but was unable to find him! My buddy and his dog helped, but after three hours the blood trail literally went dry. To make it worse, I went back in the woods just before dusk and shot a doe. Once again, I could not find her nor any blood or evidence of hitting her except flesh, fat, and hair on my arrow. I really am an ethical hunter and hate that I was unable to recover either animal. The doe, I think I may have just grazed her back, but I saw the broadhead end of the arrow sticking out of the buck as he ran off. By the way, I found both ends of the arrow.

it happens , I have not pulled the xbow out for the last 2 years due to losing 1. the only reason I keep it is in hope that 1 of the grandkids will want to try it in the near future

I shot 3 deer with my bow last year and only recovered 1. One of those deer was the biggest buck I ever had an opportunity to shoot. The arrow went in probably only 8-10" he slammed into a fence then ended up jumping a few fences and only found a couple spots of blood.

That was a very bad feeling when I finally gave up on the search.

i know it happens to everyone, but like you that is a reason the bow stays on the shelf.
