I ordered some Arrest Max from Whitetail Institute for my clover plot. I don't think it requires any added surfactant, as I believe that is already included in the concentrate. Does anyone have any experience with Arrest Max and does it require added surfactant? Thanks.

Go generic- TWICE the concentration of active ingredient, 8x the volume, for only $10 more. You will need to add surfactant according to label recommendations. Arrest is a classic example of paying the buck on the bag premium. I have never used Arrest Max, but have used Clethodim 2. Their Slay product can be purchased as a generic as well.

I used Arrest the 1st time I sprayed my 4 acre Alfa Rack field. Then I heard about Clethodime and never even considered buying herbicides from Whitetail Institute again. I love their seeds and feel that they DO offer a noticeable difference for the extra cost but for herbicides it's way cheaper to go generic.

They may have changed Arrest since I used it (7 or 8 years ago) but at that time you DID have to add surfactant.

As Mick implied above, there are alternative for broad leaf control (Slay) also. Butyrac (2-4dB) is what I've used with good success.

Imazethapyr (active ingredient in Slay) can be bought for $350/ gallon (128 ounces). WI is selling you 4 ounces for $50. Application rate is only 4 oz per acre, so that gallon will cover 32 acres.

Any idea how much shipping is? Keystone has good price but shipping kills it co-op then has best price.
