I am wanting to build an ar15 I have never done this and wanting to know if anyone could offer some advise or tips onwhere to buy parts and what brands you reccomend. Thanks in advance

this is just my opinion. but, an upper is an upper and a lower is a lower.

I have a few AR's, got one Noveske that I paid wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much for and I think the DoubleStar that I built for much less $ functions just as good if not better.

I would look at JP Enterprise for springs and maybe a Anderson for your Lower, Mega makes an affordable upper as well. If you have any questions shoot me a message. Good luck!

I've built quite a few from PSA lower build kits. They are priced well and have pretty decent triggers for a mil spec trigger. I usually use the cheapest Anderson lower I can find, usually $39-$49.

I just built an ar-15 for my wife, it was what she asked for for her birthday. I bought the upper in a kit and then bought a stripped lower. When all was said and done i had an anderson lower and a PSA upper with 1 clip for just under $450. Im with mike, its just as good as my S&W MP15. But about $500 cheaper.

I will agree with others if your building a gun to shoot every once in a while. Even the cheaper stuff will be fine. If you plan on using it for self defense I would upgrade. I have colt, cmmg, sig and a few pieced together guns. Have not had an issue with any of them.

When you get to the actual building stage, brownells has really good step-by-ste videos on assembling every part.

Palmetto State Armory is good to go. The last one I built from the ground up. Customized 6.8 spc to use hunting deer.

Which one did you build? I've been looking for something interesting to work on.
I go to Palmetto each time I have Army drill at Ft Jackson.
