AR 15 Question

Can you use a .556 AR 15 with a 30 round
magazine to deer hunt or varmint hunt in TN?
I know the .556 is too of small a caliber in most cases for deer hunting
but it is a centrer fired caliber as called out in the regulations

Yes. The 5.56mm is the same as .223. A .556 would be a pretty big bullet.

And I believe than you cannot use a center fire during at open season that does not permit the use of center fire for that specific season.

Just read the entire section and did not see anything that stated how big/capacity of Magazine, and .556 is fine. In fact .556 nato is hotter than a .223 round and people whack em every year with .223. I use a .223/.556 with a 70 grn Hornady Vmax and it devastating on deer and will slay the Yotes. :grin:

We have taken plenty of deer and hog with .223

Dont think you can use the 30 rd. Mag. when hunting deer. I think its 5 max.

Not true in TN. I can hunt with a 100 rd. drum if I choose!

Your right. I stand corrected. I wasn't sure so read the rules and nothing at all about Mag. Limits.
