So iv got a older api grand slam supreme that iv had for 16 years and it's been great . I bought a footrest years ago from Cabelas but now I bought a higher caliber rifle and I need a shootING rest. Iv Googled about everything I can and I cannot find a shooting rest for sale . Do they not make these anymore or does anyone know where I can buy one. Also I haven't looked at it but if I can't find one will my foot rest serve as shooting rest or would it not fit?

Maybe I'm missing something but the API grand slam supreme I used to have had a rail all the way around the seat so not sure why you'd need anything else. Adjust the seat so it sits lower and its just like shooting from a bench.

The seat doesn't adjust and your right the bar goes around the front but it's so low compared to the seat it doesn't help any. I usually prop foot on rest then rest my elbow on knee to shoot out front

It's been a while but I'm 99.9% sure my seat adjusted just like the one on my summit does where you losen the straps which drops the seat. Go to their website and see if you can buy a replacement seat that does adjust and swap it out. Then you don't something extra to carry.

I just ordered a new seat from hazmore.net. it is just like the ole man seat. Check them out. One option would be to use some 3/4" EMT conduit. Bend it to your needs, put the ends in a vice and bend it flat and the drill a hole to bolt it on. Be careful though drilling hole into your stand. I would use some small self tappers and only go through one side of the tubing. Or I would bend the conduit flat and then bend it to wrap it around the stand And bolt it to itself instead of drilling a hole in your stand that could weaken it. Add some pipe insulation and came duct tape.

Thanks for the imput guys ....

I'm gonna mess with the seat and see if it does adjust but if it does I'm still thinking it won't sit low enough to shoot off of unless it's angled real steep .

Also I have a aluminum welder I thought about fabin one but last time I not the rest it only cost 20 bucks . It already has holes drilled from factory so you can put a rest on it so I don't have to drill anything

I move my seat section of the stand, up higher on the tree. I end up half way sitting and half way standing or somewhere in between that's comfortable.
My knees will be well below the rail, and I just prop my elbow on the rail to shoot. I tried the method you described ( using knee against the rail ), but got ham string cramps which quickly slammed the doors on my opportunities. Cramps in a tree stand are NO joke!

I have an older Grand Slam and I can't even find a foot rest for mine. Mine is a model 2500.

I have that same climber. I have been able to slide my seat back and kneel down on my platform to use the rail as a rest, without being seen. I have also been able to lean forward seated and use the rail for my elbows to rest on. Never tried an actual gun rest though.

Thanks guys ...for 100 yards all these methods will work but I'm not the best rifleman ...Iv never taken a shot over 90 yards but past years iv had to watch 140+ deer with my 3030 at 200 yards and I want to have a good rest that I can shoot 200-300 yards if necessary
