I'm taking my sons, ages 14 and 16 to Ohio on Nov.17-18 for the youth hunt. We are hunting on public land in Coshocton Co. at Woodbury Wildlife Area. Has any body on here hunted there before? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just got back from public property in Adams Co. Don't expect to see many deer. I saw 3-4 per day and I sat in the stand ALL DAY. Also, be willing to walk. My stand was 1.7 miles from the nearest road. I passed a 120" 8 point the first day and a 100" 8 the next. The weather turned south after that but that showed me there are some big boys in there. Have fun, Good Luck.

I found a really good ridge with acorns. The crop was pretty good. The bucks were trailing them but not chasing. They were starting to heat up. I imagine this week they will be getting fired up.

I did public and really enjoyed myself. But did not kill a big buck. I just like DIY hunts personally. First year on public and could have killed a decent 8 with terrible weather. But it is a tough hunt. Just dependent on what you like better.

Were the bucks chasing yet when you were there? How was the acorn crop?
We seen lots of cruising and a couple of chases, and the ten point that I shot was actually seen breeding a doe on 11/3. There were scattered acorns where we were which was Jefferson Co.

Woodbury is a great place to start. some good deer there. I would suggest scouting other areas while there. there are some good deer in woodbury but a lot of hunters. good Luck to you and the Kids. You are going to have a great time and this will probably be the hunt of a life time for the three of you. Enjoy the time in the woods with the kids.
