Love my Tru-fire 3D hunter thumb release and I do shot better with it.For me, using a wrist release makes me feel "detached" from the bow,if that makes any since to you

I bought a truball x boss and love it I still catch my self punching the trigger ever now and again.I did shoot a wrist strap for 20years and when I went to a back tension got that under control went to the truball x boss my accuracy is a lot better only down fall I have found is hunting with one is dropping it in the woods in the dark now I carry 2 for that reason

Good topic. I've been wanting to get a thumb release. I currently use a wrist release. I just don't know which one to get and that's kept me on the fence.
I was tbe same way when i went to one luckly i have a good bow shop close to me and he has a indoor range and he was nice enought to let me take everyone out of the package and try it out if u have a shop around u i would recommend trying a bunch carter scott truball all make some really great thumb releases

I have used one for target shooting , but I still prefer my Scott wrist strap for hunting and I shoot just as good with it .

when I started shooting BT for tournaments about 7 years ago I went to a carter handheld for hunting.

I'll never go back to a wrist release and I've never dropped it. I simply hook it to the d-loop when I get set in stand and have a desinated pocket for it in my pack/vest. No more clanging release on my wrist.

Never say never :) One of you will be sitting in your treestand 20 feet up and this thread will come to mind and you'll chuckle about how you've never dropped one and next thing you know something out of Murphy's Law will happen and you'll watch your release fall 20' to the ground. Most likely will hit every piece of metal on your stand as it falls too. In which case the noise will arouse the curiosity of a huge 180" double drop tine whitetail that will come sniff your release laying on the ground, look straight up at you and wink, and then just walk carelessly away.

I notice I can shoot a handheld for a while and then go back to a wrist strap release and immediately see an improvement in my shooting with it over the handheld. This holds true for a few days until I get to wanting to punch the trigger, in which I will go back to the handheld and see an improvement over the index finger.

Have the same release and love it! It has a hole in the end that I ran some paracord through so I can clip it to my watch.

x-2 i have never used any thing else since i started with the wrist release and i am slow to change unless others convince me or i am unhappy with what i have. I am used to it so i dont think about changing but would love to try one.
