Antenna's for cell cams

Has anyone added an external antenna on a cell cam to try and increase reception/transmission? I bought a Tactacam and noticed they sell an external antenna. Also see some 3rd parties that sell them for much cheaper. Since my reception is so poor, I was thinking about getting an antenna and putting it up high on a tree or pole.

Anyone tried these?

They work great. I've used a few types. Put them on a 1x4 and get them up in a tree.
