Met up with my partner this morning and we headed off to meet our new partner who was wanting to give it a try. She was a big animal lover and wouldnt hurt a fly until the yotes eat her cats and now she hates em with a passion. After seeing ones we brought down to her place she was raring to go. Met up with her and got her licensed up and off we went. Set up at the first spot with myself and Darline sitting about 10 yds apart and my buddy Rich about 60 yds on above us. We had been calling about 30 min when i heard movement behind me. Turned around and there stands a yote eyeing me from 10 ft. We spot each other about the same time and he turns and bolts full speed head on into a barbed wire electric fence and disappears into the brush before i can get my gun swung around. Talk about getting your heart pumping. Headed out for the next set and set up in a little field just inside the woods. Rich and Darline set up together and i set up about 40 yds away on the other side of the field to watch if anything tried to swing in downwind. Had been calling about 10 min when i heard something running through the woods. Looked over at my buddy and his gun wasnt up so i knew he hadnt spotted it yet. Turned back and was looking for the yote and heard WOOF WOOF BOOM! Both started hollaring with excitement so i knew it was down. Rich said it came running down and stopped once where he couldnt see for a shot but when it broke loose again he barked it stopped about 100 yds away up in the woods. Darline watched the whole thing through her scope and was instantly hooked. Looks like we brought a new hunter into the sport. Made 2 more sets but it warmed up fast and we didnt have any luck.
Heres my buddy Rich posing for his hero shot.

Are you guys hunting fields?
Very cool.
Were hunting fields the first few hours after daylight and then moving into the woods. With as warm as its been they wont work the fields once it warms up so we hit the ridges and theyll come in a little better.
