Was hunting close to a old homeplace at LBL several years ago. Right at dark a woman came walking out of the woods crossed a corn field and walked up to the old house. Figuring some thing was up I walked to the old house to check on her. There was no lady and no tracks in the muddy corn field. I got my stuff and left.

I didn't need to read that. Now I will be thinking about it as I head into the woods before daylight tomorrow morning.

Well mines a long story and I don't guess its really spooky but it scared the crap out of me. Probably 15 years ago when I was around 10 I was walking into the woods with my dad before day light. All we had was a cheap barely working flashlight and as we walk along we hear a growling noise. We both stop in our tracks, look at each other and then shine what light we had across the ditch where the noise came from. All we can see is something large and black limp off from the other side of the ditch into the woods. We were hunting on the ground that morning so my mind is focused only on what that large growling black thing was and what made that noise behind us. It got really weird on our way back out when we stop at the place we saw this thing to find a large area of leaves pushed up with blood everywhere from the leaves to splattered on trees. We look in the ditch to find a full grown full blooded blue tick coon hound dead. We pull it up out of the ditch and see that on the front shoulder is a whole big enough to put a fist and the dogs neck was cleanly cut basically from ear to ear. Don't know what it was and I never saw it again but I still think about it occasionally on my way in to my stand.

Me and my brother were squirrel hunting when I was 13-14. We were about half a mile from the house on a logging road when we found what turned to be an old doll. But when we found it all you could see was half it's face and hair. I thought we found a dead child but after getting the leaves off of it we realized what it was. I still think about when I hunt that area and hope I don't stumble upon it in the dark

I was hunting in Winchester at the base of Carter Mountain one day and it was very peaceful, All of a sudden I was about blown out of my tree stand by the most horrific noise over my head, it turned out to be a hot air balloon skimming along the treetops. I don't believe I have ever been that scared in the woods for a split second

A friend and I were hunting together when we were about eighteen. We were hunting about a couple hundred yards apart and kept hearing noises like deer chasing in the leaves but couldn't see anything. We met about ten that morning and as we were walking out this nut job comes running up to us dressed in head to toe camo and his face painted, carrying his rifle. He asked if we had seen anything. And then he would shout, "Listen! They're all around us!!" And then he'd flop down on the ground belly crawling. We knew we were either under siege by Special Forces or this dude's cheese had slid off its cracker.

We did the green apple quickstep outta there and come to find out he was a "special case" and the land owner and some friends went to find him. He kept telling us he had an eight pointer on the ground but we hadnt heard any shots.

:D :D

I would say being intentionally shot at was the scariest thing I've had happen while hunting.

I've never seen or heard anything in the woods I couldn't explain.

Got another one. I took a friend hunting with me and this guy was afraid of the dark, but could manage to control it sometimes. As we were heading up the trail to our stands we kept hearing these screaming and squalling sounds and I realized this was going to get my buddy's goat. He told me to go ahead and that he had to have a nature break and that he would get to his stand a little later.

I went ahead and managed to get a deer that morning but didn't hear from my buddy for some help with the drag. I finally made it to the spot where I left him that morning, which was right under a maple tree with low limbs. I looked up and he was sitting almost in top of it scared to death. I forgot to tell him our hunting property bordered a huge hog operation.

My best friend and I went hunting, I wanna say Christmas break over one of our college years and we made a whole day of it. We ate breakfast early and was out in the woods.

I had been to this land a few times and basically knew it, he'd never been. We were together basically all day until about an hour before dark we decided to split up and see if we had better luck.

I told him after it was too dark to shoot we'd find each other and hoof it out. Well, I'm a HUGE prankster and I decided to hide along the route and scare the crap out of him. So I'm in this bush/cover and I see someone walking up toward me. I'd waited quite a while and it was pitch dark by now. The person gets closer and closer and then I can hear mumbling.

The closer they got I started having doubts it was my buddy. He gets right up on me like within a foot or two and stops. Kinda looks like he's looking around and he's talking to himself in broken sentences - "Know I seen them. 'Round here somewhere."

I'm 18-19 years old at the time and my creep-o-meter pegs at 10 and I'm freaking a bit. Then I thought he looks unarmed and I have a high powered rifle. He starts walking back the other way and I sat there forever til I felt he was out of range and I RAN to my truck.

When I got there my buddy was in the passenger seat white as a sheet. Said someone was stalking him and he thought it was me trying to scare him and he saw it wasn't me. He was terrified and didn't know how to alert me.

Never went back there.

I posted this before...last year I kept hearing a racket in the woods behind my stand. Sounded like crinkling plastic followed by something that sounded like a big stick whacking a tree. I caught a glimpse of something big and black moving around in the scrub and I'm thinking what the heck is this. Eventually it gets closer and I see it is a buck blindly trying to make its way through the woods, freaking out and slamming into trees because he has a large black yard bag stuck on his antlers and covering his head.

I came across a guy layed up against a tree when I was 10 or so while squirrel hunting. It didn't look like he was breathing. I thought he was dead, so I went back to tell my dad. We went out and, of course my dad says he isn't dead, then kicks his leg a couple times and he didn't move at all. It still didnt look like he was breathing to me. Then my dad yelled at him as loud as he could and then the guy wakes up. What he said was something along the lines of "You don't tell me what I can and can't do, I will never forget this, you crossed the line." My dad told him he would never forget either and if he saw him on our property again he will shoot.

Our property was about 600 acres, I had never seen the guy, and we knew everyone around us. I'm not sure If he was lost, drunk, or on drugs. I figure it was someone sneaking on our property growing pot because we had found some growing a couple years later.

It was pretty weird at the time because I was a kid.

The first bobcat I ever heard scared me.

Several years ago my brother and I hunted a farm in Scott county. We had been there a few times before and had a good feel for the area. I decided to hunt an area that I had not been in before. I walked across a field and into the woods while a lite snow was falling. I made my way in the dark to a fir thicket and sat down on a rock. I sat there in the dark while the snow fell and started seeing shadowy movement. I thought it`s either a critter or the wind. Then i started hearing sounds like whispering. I thought it`s just the wind rustling the trees and the snow falling. As the first hint of light started to filter in the shadows started taking on more form and the whispers got stronger. With the sun finally up I realized I was setting on an old tomb stone in an old family grave yard.

Was walking down the hill to the truck after a hunt one evening and had my flashlight on. Usually turn it off when I hear a car coming b/c I don't want anyone to know where I enter and exit. I park on the other side of the road just to add confusion and make people think I hunt over there. I was making too much noise walking out and didn't hear the truck coming and as soon as I saw the headlights I turned my light off. The truck came to a screeching halt and I heard the door open and shut then could hear someone walking around in the gravel. Then the truck slowly drove away... without the door reopening/closing. I only had my bow on me and had to cross the road to get to my truck. I sat still without moving for 2 hours trying to figure out what happened. I finally turned around and took the longest detour imaginable to get to my truck and crossed the road about 300 yards down. Once I had my pistol I drove to the spot and looked all around and never saw anyone. To this day I have no idea what happened........

Me and my brother were hunting at Big South Fork probably 20 years ago. We hunted til dusk and met up in the woods to walk back to the truck. We walked together for a few minutes and see blaze orange ahead of us. We saw an old man sitting on a fallen tree. He sees us and waves us over. He's holding an old lever action rifle. He said,"boys, where are you headin?" We told him we were heading back to the truck. He then said that we were not heading back to the truck. He pointed in the opposite direction we were heading and said that our truck was that way. He told us his name, for the life of me I can't remember it,then told us that he had been hunting those woods for a long time. He then told us he had to be going and started walking down the hill away from us. We had parked at a small cemetery that afternoon. When we got back to the truck we were talking about how lucky we were to have run into that old man or we would have possibly gotten lost. Then my brother asked me if I happened to notice the name of the cemetery we were parked at. I of course didn't. I then looked up on the sign and the cemetery had the same name of the old man that we had stumbled upon in the woods. There is only one road in to where we were and there were no trucks all the way back to where we camped. Me and my brother were convinced that a ghost helped us out of the woods that evening. I'll post the name of the cemetary when I remember it.

I was slightly worried this past weekend. I drove up to knoxville to visit my family over fall break and wanted to get some hunting in to try out my first crossbow. Well, my parents and aunt and uncle have been having trouble with the renter on the farm that I hunt. He's tearin up the land on the left side of the farm and making a motocross trail even though he's told he's got till the end of october to get out due to being arrested for possession of cocaine, marijuana, and a stolen RV.

Well, I really wanted to hunt a spot on the farm because there are several white oaks next to a deer travel route. So I went with my fiance's stepdad hoping one of us has some luck. We parked around 6:20 I'd say and his dogs made the most racket I've ever heard. We got into the woods and I stopped at my spot and he made his way farther up into a thicker portion of the woods. Well, I kept hearing this noise that sounded close to my truck and couldn't figure out what it was. Well, he text me and asked if I was hearin a noise and said it sounded like someone hammerin in the direction of the car.

So, I thought I'd get up and sneak over to where I'd have a view of the vehicle and see. Well, I got about halfway there and it sounded like a helicopter taking off when two turkeys saw me.

That scared the hell out of me. Truck was fine tho. Had no problems.

Late one night in deer camp ( its on the tip of a tall ridge), and after many beverages...one of my buddy steps over to the side of the camp site to take a wizz, and he says, " there is some one down there. I thought no way a human should be that far down the mountain. So I go over to loo and sure enough, there was a faint light moving around way down at the base of the ridge. The property owner and a buddy started yelling all kinds of stuff at this trespasser. As soon as they started yelling this thing starts moving irradically through the trees but then it starts getting closer, finally this light was an irredescent pink, green, purple that was coming up the mountain at a high rate of speed. I though, "ah hell no.." I grabbed my rifle because this looked like a crazy colored orb moving in crazy motions. I knew it was not a human and I wasnt gonna get abducted by aliens without a fight. I was down in the prone position safety off thinking what the heck...it got within a 100 yards, thats when I realized it was a fat female walker hound with one of those lighted collars. We called the owners number on the collar and reunited her with her coon hunting owner, but man for just a minute, I thought we were about to have a close encounter.

Like, BSK, I have never seen anything I cant explain and I dont believe in chupacabra

Now why you gotta go & keep bringing this post up. The dark be scary enough w/ out having to think bout all this stuff. I don't care what y'all say. The Booger Man is real & he be out there just awaiting

1. Have been hunted myself by wolves in idaho and once with my dad by a mountain lion on a January archery deer hunt in arizona. VERY FREAKY when the tables are turned and only a bow in hand.

2. One dark night hiking back to camp my flashlight ran out of batteries so I decided to use the flash from my camera. Occasionally id flash it around when the trail was questionable. Made it to camp fine. A week or so later I uploaded all the pics from hunting camp on the computer and in once of the slides I took it looks like a bear or a furry gohst on the ground reaching out for my leg. Every time I come across it I get chills. Will try to find it but haven't seen it in a while.

3. Saw a crazy ufo lookin thing out "star gazing" with the wife one night. Like a lazer pointer racing all over the sky for a good 2 minutes then vanishing instantly.

4. When my wife was younger her and her family went goose hunting and came up on a suspicious truck. They approached causiosly and descovered a man that had unfortunately commited suicide. He had been there for aprox. A week.

Things to play with our minds late at night in camp;-) lol

Back when I was drinking I went out and ate Mexican the night before a hunt. I drank about 10 Coronas and ate a big ole Chile Colorado.

Now I wasn't scared but that loaf I left in that gravel pull off the next morning is the stuff of legends. As I was driving to go hunting I was peering through the dark fog on a two lane highway looking for a place to stop. It was an emergency.
