Been a weird year for me... haven't seen a single snake this turkey season in TN and MS except for 1 black racer on the blacktop road. Haven't seen 1 in my yard since last summer. Didn't see a single snake bushhogging fall winter wheat getting ready for summer plots in TN. Starting to wonder if the population is actually down a lot from raptors or just coincidence I haven't seen any.
Snake populations down AND turkey populations down. Hmmm 🤔

Youre a better man than I am, thats all Im gonna say about that. If its venomous and I see it, its worm food. I stepped across a 3 ftr some years ago on a cool morning, he was all stretched out and never moved. I saw him mid stride and had no choice except to complete my step or fall astraddle of him. He never moved nor rattled.

IMO, just a coincidence. I've seen plenty this spring, in the woods and in the road. Copperheads and water moccasin/cotton mouth. SW TN and far east side of West TN along TN River. I "know" I have been all over a rattler or two, but have not laid eyes on one to confirm. Suspect a few rattlers have laid eyes on me with some of the cutover and underbrush I have stomped through, especially in the heat of the day.
