Dang near stepped right on this one this morning. Like no kidding almost stepped on it, my foot hit about 2" from its face, at that time I saw it and jumped over it lol. Really beautiful snake. That never moved an inch during our encounter. He's still out there if you're hunting North Cumberland WMA 😊

Been a weird year for me... haven't seen a single snake this turkey season in TN and MS except for 1 black racer on the blacktop road. Haven't seen 1 in my yard since last summer. Didn't see a single snake bushhogging fall winter wheat getting ready for summer plots in TN. Starting to wonder if the population is actually down a lot from raptors or just coincidence I haven't seen any.

You might be on to something there, at least regarding snakes habituating the more open places like fields & food plots. Even the small hawks (and owls) would go for small snakes, and there's definitely a lot more raptors than in times past.
