Anyone else watch it on spike Wednesday night? What did you think? IMO thought it was terrible, dumd and kinda makes a wonderful hobby of metal detecting look bad. Very Hollywood as well. I hoped it might surprise me but it let me down. Oh well.

I despise it!! Butch Holcomb of the American Digger magazine was a good friend of mine til he sold out to the dollar. Ric Savage is one of the columnists for the magazine and also the main dude on the TV show. His articles are always about spotting fake relics and how people are out to make money on history....then he sold out and went for this stupid show in which it over emphasizes the monetary value of relics....or in this particular case, the VERY inflated values of relics. It makes relic hunters out to be bounty hunters and plays zero to preserving and documentation of historical artifacts.

Butch and I got into it over all this and it got ugly. Anybody who cares anything for the hobby or historical significance of relics wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with this show and I told him that. But they are giving him money to run ads for the show in the magazine and they are giving them publicity by running advertising ads on the TV show. I will not be subscribing to their magazine anymore if they are holding to playing both sides of the field....which they are. I hear there's another one that recently came on that is actually good. I've not seen it yet....American Diggers and Diggers are terrible though.

The show tonight seemed staged. Everything they found was in good shape. Looked like it came out of a antique shop. I wish a quarter of my finds looked that good.

I've seen this a few times just for a test drive, & was hope'n ya'll had a post on it.

I've dabbled in diggin years ago but not since, have had thoughts on get'n back into it just for kicks, to me the show is total BS, the big guy that seems to run things just gets on my nerves with his mouth & all the put on, then holds out for the good stuff at the pawn shops for the sale, I've yet to see a pawn shop pay half what anythings worth much less thousands of dollars.

The last episode they ran across a cougar (& pretended it wasn't tame) the slowly backed out so they could go warn ther pals before they got ripped into shreds, that bunch couldnt walk up on deaf, near sighted cougar.

The show gives our hobby of Metal Detecting a bad name. It really ticks me off to watch them RAPE the land in order to get what is in the ground. I bet they don't even cover their holes back up. Too much of it looks staged, and Savage is just loud mouth and obnoxious.
