I almost tagged out on bucks and got myself a fine to boot. About 9 this morning a nice bodied 4 pt walked out in the narrow fire lane. He had a good body and I decided to shoot.
He went down in the tall grass and I heard him moan. I was trying to reload and couldn't get it to seat because of the roof on my tripod so I climbed down and reloaded. I stepped out into the narrow fire lane and there he stood at 70 yrds facing me. I stood still and he turned and walked about 20 yards further away and turned broadside. He was flipping his tail and acting agitated. I decided to shoot again and as I raised the gun he stepped out of site into the tall grass.
I texted my bud and asked him to come help me track in an hour and I sat and waited. After an hour I started down the trail toward where I had Iast saw him and low
and behold there he lay where I'd shot him originally.
I guess there was a second buck of about the same size that came over to check the one I'd shot and I almost shot the sucker thinking it was the same deer. :bash:
