I am 90% sure this is a buck I shot at a few weeks ago. When I went to where he was when I shot I found a broke limb and no blood. Looked for him and nothing. Got this picture today

I wish I knew for sure just to ease my mind. If that is him I would think it would have got spine and dropped him.

Re: Almost miss.

Sure looks like a bullet grazed his back and took some hide off.

Bullets do weird things. Ive been in shotgun classes before and seen a 12 Gauge Shotgun get deflected by a baseball cap brim and completely miss the head from 5 yards away. If I had not seen it with my own Eyes I would have never believed a I OZ slug could have been deflected so easily .

That's one lucky deer right there.

Re: Almost miss.

if it is the same buck, the bullet fragmented when it hit the tree and just a piece of it hit the deer causing the injury. He looks healthy, should make it to next season.

First of all, this is in no way a judgement against you... but that deer has some growing left to do.

When you kill him in 11 Months its going to be really special!

Not sure his horns will taste any better in 11 months LOL
