Well, I've made up my mind completely on the A rig, and the fact is, it is totally gonna re-define bass tournaments. I knew it was gonna be unreal, but I never imagined how unreal. After fishing a tourney this weekend on Guntersville and seeing what freakin' thing will catch, Good Lord. You wouldn't believe how bad of a fishing day Saturday was, and the weights were still through the roof including the winning bag of 32 lbs. (Not a team tournament either)

I'll have to say, I'm gonna learn how to throw em better as long as they are legal, but if they outlawed them, I would be fine with it. I'm leaning towards, one hook, one rod, one bait. But until then, I'm gonna have to throw it, or I'm gonna donate alot of money!

They are not as good as people say they are.

I have fished with my own version of the Rig on Kentucky Lake this winter, and I still had to work hard for the Bass I caught.

I think they are overated.imo

Although, things might change this Spring, when I use my rig.

I think it would work best in the fall.

i went to the fishing expo last sat. and those things were everywhere alabama rig, arkansas rig, tennesse rig etc...whatever they wanted to call them every booth had them it was insane !!!!

It may not be everywhere, but it is absolutely dominating the big G right now. 32 lbs is crazy for one man. I heard through the grapevine that the winner culled a huge limit as well. There are two more BFLs there the next two wknds and will most likely be won on the AL rig. I know some people that fished Sat and said that nearly everyone was throwing it.

Bass Pro has them on sale.
As of last night, when I was there, they had the original,$24.99,and an off shoot $25.99.Couldnt do it,knowing I would have to modify it,basically cut off 2 leaders.Found some local knock offs, with 3 hooks for $11.

Yup, and I was one of the few that went home with my tail between my legs beat like a drum because I refused to throw it all day. I did throw it some, but I've still gotta figure out a few things that everybody else apparently already has.....

Yeah, things could change this Spring though, I hope I catch as many as some of you are.

I simply would not throw anything that requires that much work. I don't even like crankbaits.
It's really not much work to fish it. Plus if your in the boat with someone smoking you on it really good, you might have a change of heart about it. lol....

TTodd, the guy with 32 lbs caught a good number of fish on a Rat-l-trap, as a matter of fact one of my friends who knows him well said the guy that won told him he did better with a Rat-l-trap.

They are whacking them on pickwick right now with it. 2 giant fish caught in the last few weeks. Probably some more but i only heard about the 2. My buddy caugth 2 over six pounds with it yesterday and hes really not that good of a fisherman. lol

I boated 4 fish with it at 11.6! This is from a lake that last years local tourney in Jan. was a one fish 3lb win! I will absolutely use this bait if conditions are right.

i personally think the bait compromises skill and benefits the fisherman with less skill. just an opinion, but i think any organization that doesn't go to 1 rod, 1 bait and continues to allow this rig will go downhill in participation. and that includes FLW and all the different levels of tournies under their roof.

I agree with the first half, but disagree with the second! Fisherman as a whole love this rig!! Anything that allows the fisherman to catch more and better fish will be welcomed by the fisherman, imo anyway! Im still on the fence as to whether or not it will do any harm to the resource? It will take a full year to determine how it affects it overall!

As far as Skill level, that can play the same way for many diffrent lures. Say a guy with great deep cranking skills is competing with guys that are not as skilled, and the fish are on that type of bait, his skill with the deep crank will show. Same goes for a flipping bite, top water and other ways. When the super fluke first came out, I was fishing with a guy who had fished it several times. The fish were on it, I put one on, stood side by side with him in the front of the boat. He had 5 fish over 17 lbs, I didn't have a bite on it. Lucky for me, we were fishing as a team.
