Age these teeth

all right I have gotten a wide range of opinions from 2.5 to 4.5 based on the body

here are the teeth, what are your guesses?

3.5�the first molar is worn and the dentine is as wide as the enamel, second molar is worn, and the third molar still has its sharp point and back cusp is concave.

The last pic from left to right....the first molar is the 4th tooth back. Here is a link that has a fairly good demonstration/explanation of the teeth at the varying ages.

judging by this guide, and also the aging guide on Tndeer.com, my buck looks like 4.5 on the left jaw and 3.5 on the right, cause he has chewed more on the left side, but how would you make a better guess at age when each side is worn down differently?

Yep I was going 3.5 from the pics of the deer you posted and now that you've posted the jaws it's definetely 3.5.... Congrats cat great season for you I just wish that ole beast you killed had his other side!

thanks man, and if he had his other side he would have been caped and sitting in the freezer till I got the money for a taxidermist

Always helpful to have the jaw in my hands, but from those pictures, I would go with 3 1/2.

It is cool but in all the years that I hunted up north I had never had any idea how to age a deer. Of course when I was young probably never cared it was just fun to go out and kill them.

Back in the "old days" hunters though you could age a buck by his antlers. Bucks would add a point every year!
