Anyone seeing this also? My buck pics have dropped a lot in the past week at the trophy rocks and I have had only doe and fawn pics for the last 2 weeks. There are no mature oaks on that property but the oaks around the house have started dropping. I'm thinking the bucks have finished their antler growing and are now trying to condition themselves for the rut and build fat with the acorns. Any thoughts.

I've not seen any acorns dropping around here but, that maybe your problem with not getting pics.

the funny thing is everywhere I hunt, i have been looking at oaks and I can't see hardly any. However that is with the naked eye.

in years past I feel like I could see them with the naked eye, but I'm getting older...

Anyway, I haven't seen but a couple on the ground.

I was in the woods all weekend and didn't see any on the ground. Now hickories are a different story. Hickories are dropping a ton of excess nuts.

On a side note, this is the time of the year us trail cam runners start beating our head against the wall. I've already seen 1 of my mature bucks shedding his summer coat. Pics have slowed way down on mineral sites. Some acorns are already dropping. With these brutal temps coming and lack of rain expect the big bucks to go void in the coming weeks and especailly once they shed the velvet and make the fall shift

Saw some in Hamilton Co. As well the last few days. My trees in KY are loaded but not dropping yet.

While running at Percy Warner Park in Nashville yesterday, I noticed a lot of red oak acorns on the ground.

I was on the Dickson/Humphries line over the wknd, just beyond the Fenced Droptine property actually. Hanging stands and cams and noticed a few Red oaks starting to fall already, likely just overflow but these acorns were healthy with good meat in them!! Man was it HOT!!!!

White oaks raining on my roof and patio, my oaks at the house are full this year. Havent seen that many droping on the mtn yet.

This is strange, because i have not seen a single white oak with hardly any acorns on it on Priest or in Rutherford Co. I have seen Reds chock full of acorns and some dropping.

If the whites are dropping now that is early right? odds there won't be any by the time bow opens up.

Most oaks are only dropping their excess mast. A tree may put on far more fruit/nuts than they can actually mature and will then drop the excess during the growing season. I suspect this hot, dry spell is triggering a sudden dropping of excess fruit. Don't worry that there won't be any left.
