Bought this yesterday. It looks and runs like new. Parked it last night around 8:00 came home from work today and saw this leak in my garage. It is under the rear differential. It looks like it could be dripping from the diff or possibly leaking where the shaft meets the diff. Is this serious? How do you check this fluid? Do you do it hot or cold?Would you keep it full and ride it or have it checked out?

Be sure to keep it checked, mine don't hold but 3.4 ounces of rear differential fluid. Unscrew the rear differential fill plug and see if it has a crack in it, they are bad to crack if you overtighten them.

If the front seal is leaking on the differential it will allow water and dirt to get in. The repair is really very simple to do and only takes a couple hours at most. Get a little water and dirt in there and the pinion gear will be gone in no time flat. Remove the seal and take it to a bearing/seal store and have them look up a new one for a quarter of the cost of one from the dealer.
