I really didn't have a backup in case my 708 goes down for some reason. I bought this 308. I'm going to try 165 Swift Sciroccos and Varget.

I have a 700 SPS Varmit in 308 that will drive tacks with a 165 Gr bullet and 45gr of Varget. AR Comp powder works well to.

+1 165 gr Ballistic tips and 45 gr of Varget puts 5 inside a dime at 100 yards with my model 11 Savage. DRT on deer.

In a river hopefully!
IF that's your back up rifle what does the 7mm08 look like?! Gold! Nice rifle!
Actually it will be interesting to compare the two as they seem to always draw a lot of responses when one tries to compare to the other.

That one is a Plano All Weather 52" Double Rifle 108191. I just marked it on the back side with a sharpie and used an electric filet knife to cut the foam. Tip I was told if you travel with one of these cases, cut the foam so the open action of the rifle can be seen without taking the rifle out of the case. Be nice to have someone with a laser cutter to do the foam work. Mine is not that slick but it works.

Thanks. It doesn't appear to be home-grown. I will try this myself (after I find a replacement foam supplier!!!)

Another alternative is a soft case to put in the hard case. I put a 46" LA Police Gear double rifle case in my Pelican 1750. It leaves some room at the end for my suppressor, suppressor cover, ove glove, etc.

This Pelican case has traveled thousands of miles on airlines, bounced around in the back of a truck all over the state of Texas, and numerous other places. We use 4 of these for different firearms. Never let me down and it's still fine.

I hope you have better luck with the sciroccos than I have. They do well enough to kill a deer but they don't shoot the best. I also couldn't get 165 nbt or sst to shoot well either but game kings put them in there

Looks like wood. I have seen pictures and one at the range in wood furniture.

Yeah, they look awesome. But these bull barrelled guns are heavy enough the way it is. The wood adds weight that this old man doesn't want to lug around. The older I get, the heavier these things are!

4064 is killer for the 168-175 gr bullets and I like the 175s best,,,for 150s mine likes 8208 and H380 better,,but its hard to screw up with a 308
