Wanting to get in either Redhawk or Raging Bull. Anybody have any experience with either of these?

Yep, Why dont you just fill a beercan with powder and set it off in your hand?

Shot a .454 super redhawk at an inside range. 3rd shot and the concussion knocked the light off the ceiling in the bay next to us. 12th shot and the Nikon Monarch pistol scope came apart. That gun is NO FUN to shoot.

I would either go with a .45LC or if you really want a big hammer, get the .480 ruger or the .50cal.

I have a .45LC and can shoot 2" groups at 50yds. Easily pushes a 300gr xtp 1200fps with 2400 powder.

I have the 6 1/2" 454 raging bull,I'm very happy with it .It has about the same recoil as my 44mag ruger red hawk.I have no problem shooting the raging bull one handed and it is very accurate. It has a ported barrel which I believe keeps the recoil down.I don't no were rutherford is in relation to macon but your more than welcome to come shoot my casull if you like.

Now if you were talking about the S&W500 ,it has some serious recoil.I tried to empty my friends gun but had to regan my balance after the 3rd shot.

A buddy of mine has one but I can't remember which one. It's one of the two you listed. LOL Anyhow, I shot it several years back and don't remember it being unbearable or anything like that. Not something you want to send a ton of rounds through at one time but not bad for every now and then.

I had the 6 1/2 " Raging Bull. It was an awesome handgun. I wish I had kept it. Shot great and the recoil was very managable. If you plan on shooting it with a scope get some GOOD rings. I bought Milletts which are very good in my opinion. It broke a screw on them in 12 shots. I went to some Leupold QRWs and never had a problem.

I have some experience with the raging bull with the long barrell and it was accurate and not bad at all to shoot other than the cost of ammo. The muzzle blast will make other shooters take notice though.
