Supposedly, the powder I'm using , trail boss.. is really light and bulky .. if that makes sense.. so you don't need a filler.. I've loaded and shot probably 40 in 3 years.. all good so far.. I'd like to find a load around 1800-2000 fps..I would recommend a filler over the powder. I used to load some .30 M1 Carbine loads. I would load about 14.0 gr. 2400 and a 110 gr. soft point. After measuring in powder, I put a a pinch of cotton over powder and then seat bullet. Never had a problem with a misfire or sqiib load.
This makes zero sense to me...I'm loading 308 subsonics .. 200 grain Rex bullet and maybe 12 grains of trailboss…
Any published loads for this bullet that's maybe mid range?
Obviously you don't have a very petite daughter..This makes zero sense to me...
I must be missing the point, but what are you trying to accomplish?
Either shoot a deer super quiet with an expanding sub less than 1050 fps, or scream the bullet at it as fast as possible for less bullet drop and drift.
Obviously recoil is not an issue since it is a .308
I have 2 petite daughters. One is 5ft, 130lbs at 18, the other is 5.2 130lbs at 22.Obviously you don't have a very petite daughter..
what if im pinking and don't want a sub sonic or a full power load
Maybe I like working up different loads because I get bored doing what everyone else does..
I loaded some 30-06 and .270 loads with imr4198, then test shot em. Those are my new reduced recoil load for the kids and women I take hunting. They are are so pleasant to shoot anyone who can hold a rifle should be able to shoot em. I have little doubt it'll work similarly in a .308win. Honestly I'll shoot deer with em!!
