308 loads

Bought me a new rifle yesterday. A T/C Venture in 308. anybody got a good hunting load worked up they care to share for me to try in it.

since I think you have some 4064,I would start there and just about any 150-165 gr bullet,,at 308 speeds the Sierra Game King Spitzer Boat Tail bullets are hard to beat,,

if one of those powders with the 165 Sierra bullet wont shoot good groups there is something bent.

I think 4064 is the standard 308 powder.

45.5 gr of RL15, 165 gr Accubond, CCI 200 primer gets 2750 FPS out of my Montana, and safe in my rifle, but work up to it in yours. Let us know how the new rifle shoots.

I can't remember the amount of 4064 powder, but I worked up a speer 130gr hollow point that was nice. I used the standard measure of powder for a sierra 130gr from the sierra manual for that powder.

44.5grs or RL-15, win brass, cci LR primmer, Nosler BT or Accubond COL 2.805 shoots less than .5in out of my old 22in Ruger M77. Its not the fastest at 2575fps but i like it.
This is on the warm side of the manuals so work up for safety.

45g IMR 4064 under a 150 NBT, standard CCI primer gives me around 2800 fps and 1/2-2/3 MOA 5-shot accuracy in my .308

The only load I've tried in it... gotta love it when you hit a home run on the first pitch of the first at bat

Havnt found a 308 yet that wouldn't shoot well with somewhere between 44-44.5 gr of varget and 168 gr amax. Some cry about the amax not being a hunting bullet but it has done well for a lot of folks.

ive got loads for the 130 Speer HP and the Speer TNT 125 GR Both hunting loads and both devestating on deer.... both IMR 4064 USING cci br Primers.I will get data if you want it just let me know - before I sell my gear that is...
