Last season I bought a savage in 270wsm. I wanted basically a "bean field gun" to complement the other rifles I use. I like the gun, like the way it shoots and it holds tight groups. Sadly, I did not get to shoot a deer with it last year. I am sure that it will perform well at long range, however, I do hunt woods a good bit and I am concerned about how it will perform close range. Does anyone have experience with the 270wsm in the 25 to 75 yard range? I shoot 140gr accubonds with it.

you will have no problems. It will kill a deer at that range with the 140 AB's.

I have no personal experience with the 270WSM, but I've shot several deer under 100 yards with a 7mm RM and a 7mm WSM with 140gr Accubonds. All of them died rather quickly :)

I have killed 2 bucks(155 and 120 lb field dressed), 2 hogs(130 and 75 lb), and a doe with my 270 WSM. The longest shot was 75 yards, the closest about 35. All were killed with 1 shot, all fell where they stood, and all were shot with a 130 gr bonded bullet either a Scirrocco or Interbond. I think if you stick with the Accubond or the 2 mentioned above you will be fine.

I got a Browning A-bolt 270 wsm. I have killed 12 deer with it since buying it 2yrs ago. The only problem I see is with the factory loads being extremely high in price and the so called winchester ballistic silvertips 130 gr. destroy meat at close range. I love mine but I will have to look into reloading because around my house bullets are hard to fine in stores. If anyone on here would be interested in doing some reloading for me. I got about 3 or 4 boxes of brass maybe have one more by the weekend. Going to a new scope mount so going to have to resight her in. One question and by the way not trying to still your thread but has anyone tried shooting there gun 270 wsm out past 400 yards thats about all the scope I have and I can't get any drop at all.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, bullets are high. Not hard to find where I live but up to $40 a box. I am saving brass too but it will be a while before I have enough to look at having someone load for me. Can't help you with the other issues. I don't know that I am skilled enough to even attempt a shot at a deer at 400 + yards. Might be fun to target shoot at that range but I don't have access to anyplace that is that long and open.
