Want to push to maximum villosity of each bullet type.
I'm thinking 40gr. up to abought 62-64 gr. or so bullets.
Ground hogs, armadillos, crow, coyote maybe deer in a pinch.

I can load my on.

I have no problem with Nosler 40 grain staying together at max velocity with Benchmark, the 40 grain Hornady came apart at max velocity with Benchmark. Tikka 1-8 it amazed me at how well it shot with the 8 twist.

I personally wouldn't shoot 40s. I'd be in 69-77 range

I'd be looking for an 8 twist. Both mine are 9's and they leave some good bullets on the table. I shoot with a guy that uses a 7 twist and his has shot the 40gr nosler accurately.

A 1:8 will positive shoot heaviest .224 bullet available at retail no keyhole.
I know for a fact 1:9 will shoot 70 gr Accubonds into sub moa at 100. Cannot vouch for heavier.

We shoot all of our 223's (more than 5) with 40's and up to 60 gr. Heavier than 60 requires 1:9 or better.

The 40's are easily upset by wind. Results are just not repeatable in any kind of crosswind.

What grain bullets do folks use for crows?

I shoot 55's for everything up to hogs.

If I'm shooting longer range steel I move up to 68's.
