22 for my daughter

my oldest turns 12 next weekend and she wants a 22.
she wants the pink cricket.

anyone have one? any thoughts or better alternatives??

she has 2 younger sisters and a twin so they would prob use it too. thanks

I was going to get my daughter one of the Ruger 10/22s with the pink stock. I feel she would outgrow the cricket before she got a chance to shoot it much. Of course, we don't have ready access to a range.

we will be shooting int he backyard(perk of country life).

i would rather spend less on the cricket to see how she likes it.

We are in the city limits. I wish I had a back yard to shoot in. You have a good idea, and if mine doesn't like it, I'll change the stock and have a new toy. lol I have a wood and synthetic stock next to my desk I can throw on it. My daughter is 8 and probably the tallest in her class. I'm sure the Cricket will work great for you, and Good Luck to both of you! I hope you have a blast!

Yeah I think the Crickets are way too small for practicality. They are decent little rifles no doubt but a fast growing child will soon outgrow one. The CZ Scout is the best youth bolt .22 rifle available imo. It is sufficiently small for training kids and sufficiently big for a handy woods walk for adults. Plus it will last 2-3 lifetimes and several generations or more. PH

Boyds make aftermarket stocks you could change when the kidz outgrow it..

like PH said they have to be the best kid 22 made,,and would make a nice squirrel rifle for adults

Here is a pic of 'our' Scout I bought nib for $169 back in 2001. My boys were 6 and 1 then. They learned how to handle and shoot a bolt rifle with this little CZ-you can see the blue worn off the bolt knob. I left it unscoped as I wanted them to learn how to shoot iron sights. And it is still as new-actually probably better than new as just getting broken in. We used it for training the kids but I have killed a few squirrels with it as targets of opportunity. It shoots as well as I can 'see' and hold. PH

well boys i went with the cz scout with the pink stock. it seems well made and more of a gun that the cricket. hope she likes it!!

Yeah yall should like the Scout for sure. Put some grey camo leaves on that pink stock and that would look really nice as a girl's rifle. Good shooting. PH

good choice man,,JW likes shooting his with the open sights,,I bought a 2.5-7 Weaver for him but he took it off and put it on his BB gun,,LOL
